What are bond options?

Bond options are contracts that issuers (sellers) and investors (buyers) agree upon and execute at a predefined price and time. They can be categorised into callable and putable bonds. A call option allows the buyer to buy the bonds without creating any obligation on the buyer or seller. A put option gives the seller the right to sell the bonds without any obligation on either party.
