It was established in 1863 as the Municipal Board of Allahabad and upgraded to a Municipal Corporation in 1959, it covers 365?km and serving over a million residents, the corporation manages roads, street lighting, parks and gardens, and waste collection.

It ensures clean drinking water and sewage treatment, maintains public health and sanitation, and collects property taxes. The corporation also collects property taxes, registers births and deaths, and supports Smart City projects—like smart classrooms in schools—to foster sustainable growth.
