Birla Corporation Limited is the M.P. Birla Group's flagship company. It was founded in 1919 as Birla Jute Manufacturing Company Limited by Late Mr. Madhav Prasad Birla and is now led by Harsh V Lodha (Chairman). The company name was changed to Birla Corporation Limited in 1998. Birla Corporation began as a jute manufacturing company, but it has since grown to operate four major divisions: cement, jute, linoleum, and auto trim. The Company gradually shifted its focus to cement manufacturing as its primary business activity. It also has a significant presence in the jute goods and Iron & Steel Casting industry.

The Company has acquired 100% of the shares of Reliance Cement Company Private Limited (Reliance Cement), a subsidiary of Reliance Infrastructure Limited (RIL). Following this acquisition, Reliance Cement became a wholly-owned material subsidiary of Birla Corporation Limited. RIL's entire cement business has been acquired for an Enterprise Value of Rs. 4,800 crores. Birla Corporation Limited now owns high-quality assets, increasing its total capacity from 10 MTPA to 15.6 MTPA.
